Abstract
This study utilized a practice-based research design to gain new knowledge through original investigation. It employed an action research approach that included 24 participants, comprising coaches and coordinators with expertise in academic contests in Araling Panlipunan. Ethical considerations were prioritized, ensuring truthful data collection and participant privacy. The main research instrument was an interview guide, which facilitated structured interviews and focus group discussions. Thematic analysis was employed to identify themes and deepen the understanding of the academic contest and its context. The District Academic Contest in Araling Panlipunan is a vital event for students in Grades 3–6, designed to enhance academic engagement through competition in Araling Panlipunan. Participants highlighted themes of pride and pressure in the selection process, alongside challenges such as making and categorizing questions, finding resources, and logistical barriers that contribute to anxiety. Overall, the study highlights the importance of establishing support systems and targeted interventions to foster a healthy competitive environment that promotes both academic excellence and emotional well-being in Araling Panlipunan academic contests.
