Abstract
This study determined the research competence of teachers in Gabao National High School, Irosin District, School Year 2025-2026. The respondents of the study were purposively selected. It utilized survey questionnaire to gather data needed in the study. Weighted mean, frequency count and rank were used. The study showed that the level of preparedness of teachers in undertaking educational research are much prepared in terms of problem conceptualization, research design and methodology, and discussion and interpretation of data while for statistical and thematic analysis is moderately prepared. The capabilities of teachers in undertaking educational research are much more capable in terms of problem conceptualization and discussion and interpretation of data while moderately capable in terms of research design and methodology and statistical and thematic analysis. Teachers are confronted with different gaps and issues, and a research capability training program is proposed to address the said concerns. The study recommended that training and seminars for teachers on research to improve their research capabilities be undertaken by the Department of Education. Capabilities of teachers in undertaking educational research be enhanced through continuously improving their craft. Funds for research and research-related activities to inspire and motivate teachers in conducting educational research be allocated by school. And the developed research capability training program be implemented by teachers in school and be adopted by other schools in the district of Irosin and other districts in the province of Sorsogon to capacitate teachers on undertaking educational research.
