Abstract
This research investigates the effect of Catch–Up Fridays on the reading performance of pupils in Pilar II District’s selected schools. The target participants are the teachers who are handling Grade 3 classes. This study aimed to determine the lived experiences, the different reading activities employed, and the issues and concerns of the teachers. This is done to determine whether the implementation of Catch–Up Fridays can successfully enhance pupils’ reading performance. Through mixed mixed-methods approach, the research collected information from Grade 3 teachers coming from 4 big schools, 4 from schools along the road, and 4 from interior schools using interviews, questionnaires, and document analysis. The results indicated that the Catch–Up Fridays program had a positive impact on pupils’ reading fluency, comprehension, and reading motivation. It contributes to a better understanding of the efficacy of this intervention in improving reading performance among Grade 3 pupils and informs the development of more effective reading programs.
