Abstract
The study determined the management practices and problems encountered by elementary school heads using the descriptive method of research. The study found out that the school heads displayed good leadership and management practices but encountered several problems along with the lack of proper training and mastery for the placement of the teacher in the appropriate grade level; limited resources for the implementation of the planned projects; failures in meeting the schedules and timetable in the accomplishment of projects; lack of expertise from the school personnel to handle the task; and in the monitoring of the day-to-day school activities to assist the teacher due to overlapping school activities.
Keywords: management practices, problems encountered, school heads, school improvement.
